Yes, the BROTHER HL-2270DW printer takes the TN-420 or TN-450 cartridge, and these fill the same way, and work with Uni-Kit Formula #7. Since this is a new printer you have, it has the TN-420 cartridge (starter cartridge). The starter cartridge need a new reset gear and end cap, Uni-Kit part # 185-298-01. And the refill toner bottle. You do not need a new drum. Those usually last for tens of thousands of pages, and your printer will let you know when its time for a new drum.

Since there is no flag gear on the initial Brother toner-- will replacing just the toner work and maybe taping over the view port window on the housing too ?

I have a Brother HL-2140L laser printer which uses a TN-2130 toner cartridge. I have checked all office supply stores and spoken to brother but they tell me this model printer and toner cartridge are NOT sold in the US (I bought it when I lived in Singapore). My only option now is the refill the cartridge. How do I know if this toner is compatible with my cartridge and are there any special instructions for my specific cartridge? Thanks.
