She held the world record for months, male or female. Largest wave surfed by a human.

Just watched 'Maya and the Wave' and learned how much she had to fight for this record outside the water. Well done!

A record setting ride with an asterisk.
Getting towed into a wave is nowhere near the achievement as paddling into it and catching it without the help of a powered watercraft.

Wow! That's a huge wave! Any higher and it would probably end up being a tsunami!

What type of speed are we seeing here for Maya?

That wave scares me one tiny wave at the beach drowns me😱😰

While it is still a very impressive feat, getting towed in kinda takes away from the spectacle. Take a look at Aaron Gold's paddle in at Jaws. It takes so much more skill to time the drop and handle the wave from crest to trough. Like I said, Maya still achieved an incredible feat, but it's not the same

And this is why makes the world a beautiful place.

how do you measure the height of a wave like what do you use

So... she is actually at the shortest part of this huge frickin' wave..I'd give her 40feet. it really is quite huge and I would never be out there as I don't get along with drowning! BUT, she isn't even on the big part of it! AND, how do they measure these things.. how do they know it isn't 70feet or 65feet... 68 is a pretty exact measurement for a wave! Still... impressive!
