왜 사람 눈에 귀엽게 진화를 하였을까? 자연에서 살기에는 저런 귀여운 모습보다 곤충 같은 무서운 얼굴이 더 살기 좋을텐데

Awwww, this is so charming. The cheeky music, the narrative of the lazy neighbor, the writing, Attenborough's voice--everything is perfect. What a delight.

Can we take a second to appreciate the camera work?

How much effort must go into finding a single MOUSE in the MOUNTAINS, and then stalking it to set up hidden cameras along its regular routes. Just wow.

It's like they're carrying a small bouquet in their mouth. ❤💐

David Attenborough's narration makes the tiniest rodents documentary so amusing...

I can’t get over the change to a “villainous” music when the second adorable lil creature is shown yawning xD

Despite their appearance, pikas are not rodents. They belong to the order Lagomorpha, together with rabbits and hares.

Woah. They build a haystack, dry it in the sun for winter, and include preserving herbs. Thata pretty next level for a rodent.

They must have great cardio to do all that running up and down cliffs thousands of times.

Once, high on the Cascade Trail in Grand Teton National Park, my friend and I met a pika biologist on a rockfall full of nests. We learned that there are about 60-ish pika specialists worldwide, but this small academic community examines them as indicators of changing climate (they lose foraging time as temperatures increase). We were awed when the biologist let out a shrill, complex response to a distant pika call, then self-consciously explained that he knew a few dozen vocalizations. It was years ago, but my friend and I still can't believe we met a guy who was fluent in pika language!
