This I believe is true .. I live in Canada and my house insurance shot up the last 2 years due to wildfires in our province .. I asked why such a big increase and was told it was because of wild fires

There is a such a thing as pricing youself out of business. If no one can afford housing cost no one will buy and insurance companies lost another customer. If someone is paying 3000 a month for insurance they are nuts because you can buy enough materials at that price to rebuild many times if you know how to read a tape measure and run a saw. So why would you want home owners insurance at 36000 a year times10 years is 360.000 Dollars

The insurance apocalypse is huge. But there is more to this drama. The permit process to rebuild is going to be a nightmare for all rebuilds. Los Angeles is known for being a huge bureaucracy for rebuilding. Many grandfathered home styles and floor plans will not be approved. The coastal commission will block many home rebuilds in Malibu .

If you have a mortgage, they will DEMAND that you have insurance to protect their investment in your property. We are screwed.

I’m a resident of California let me remind you INSURANCE is a risky biz and it’s not just Ca. It’s all over the USA look at the floods and Hurricanes and recently NCarolina it’s not settled yet

All sectors of insurance have already gone up 2024/25. Home insurance up 30% and so did health insurance. Auto up 20%. State law requires car insurance. Bank requires morgaged home to have home insurance. Health Insurance cant risk being without because one accident or illness will put you in debt without it. At least health insurance has govt regulations. Homeowners insurance needs to have similar regulations that they cant cancel a policy if you have to make a claim. I know someone who had roof tiles torn up from a storm filed a claim and got canceled after the payout. Another person had a cancellation warning if they didnt put new roofing on but they were 20 year tiles and only 10 years old without any damages or problems. Ive heard people say home insurance threatens cancellation they decide the home needs to be painted.
