Something to note about your average infantry man is that he has to probably carry all his shit. Knights and soldiers of notable status had serfs and squires to help with the load; your average Joe under the service of a lord did not. Under such circumstances, most would only arm themselves with the necessities.

I'm surprised how nice some of this mass produced armor stuff looks.

All that just to be shot by an early arquebus

I've seen this debated but is there any evidence of a maille collar being worn with a bevor and brigandine?

I guess the average infantry had to buy the equipment by themselves, right? It was not like in video games, that the kingdom provides the army with weapons and armors... Isnt it?

That will protect your edges quite well, mine would be a head coif, a leather cuirass And a gorgot.

What sizes are your gambeson + breastplate? We’re pretty much the same body sizes and I’m contemplating on getting these! Thanks 🙏

Looks great! What decades would this be appropriate? I assume Early 16th C?

If you don't mind me asking: which country is this based on generally?

Uh oh, this infantryman is lacking critical information!! He has neglected to wear his bevor because he wants to be able to breathe and see and not have his breath condense and drip onto himself. Unfortunately, getting stabbed or shot in the neck and mouth is a leading cause of death in men at arms :( so sad

I've never seen lower rank infantry in this time period with breastplates and faulds (I've always associated that more with the 16th century). Does anyone have any period references for this (artistic or textual)?
