Multiply or Release #22 - Upgrades - Marble Race

preview_player
Показать описание
New in this version: block hit points. Normally, blocks only take 1 from the size of shots that conquer them. When blocks gain increased hit points, it increases the amount taken from the conquering shots, effectively fortifying your territory. The upgrade applies to newly conquered territory and does not increase the hit points of territory you currently control.

Four colors competing:
Magenta, Blue, Green and Orange
Which colour will win?

(Warning: spoilers below the readmore)

Interesting dynamics. The brick HP upgrade means there's now a distinction between the power to take territory and the power to hold it; this makes it a lot less "strongest wins", since you essentially get a multiplier based on how much more your territory is worth than the opposition's (if you have double the brick HP and half the offensive capacity, a stalemate would be expected). The fact that you don't get to increase the HP of bricks you already own means an early attack rush gets a subtle disadvantage; you're stuck with a whole pile of low HP bricks until they get captured and recaptured, and worst case you get sniped through them later on.

Then again, maybe this was just staving off the inevitable; Green got a ton more marble upgrades and eventually just snowballed out of control. Which isn't bad, necessarily, given that the alternative is total defense winning out leading to stalemate, and Orange DID get a couple bizarre bouncy shots which could theoretically have slid over and hit Green. Plus the high brick HP did a good job of deleting small shots and requiring that one of the death stars actually make direct contact...until the end, anyway.

Overall excited to have this ruleset in the roster, it seems like it makes for a much more even-keeled upgrade game that provides plenty of opportunity for back-and-forth rather than a large stick emerging and immediately beating everyone to death.

I thought it was a great implement to be able to increase the life of the brick. As the game progressed the bricks were so dark that I could barely read the number inside them, so maybe it would be better to increase the brightness of the numbers as the brick darkens. Otherwise, good video :)

LOL

Lime's epic 11.6M monster, 127k monster, 40k monster...
Launching 11M+ monsters and it dominates the board, leaving room to spawn more balls and create the molecule chaos at the end, there was lag.

i think this was the best multiply or release video thus far, the brick hp upgrade was amazing, the fact that you could block a person inside their own base with the bricks, and force that person to escape by summoning a giant marble made the entire thing super fun to watch, that upgrade alone made the game go to late-game, which caused upgrades like the +10% multiplier to help lime create actual stars, it made orange survive by having 20 HP on his bricks, the entire thing was super chaotical and that made it very fun to watch. the music was also really good, you started the video with target fuse, then at the middle of it you used an entirely new song, and most of the songs were synchronized to what was happening on the screen. also, you made some changes to the layout like fixing the bug where marbles could take 2 upgrades at once, and you made the upgrades much more readable. one thing made me curious tho, why is there a rectangle below the +1 marble and multiply +10% upgrades?

Spoilers:

Poor Cyan. He suffered enough through Green's early and quick attacks.

Also, the particle accelerator in the end is what made Orange lose.

I think the brick hp upgrade should give 1 hp to each brick in the board, so your starting 1s are not a massive weakness that can be exploited. Also I'd make the starting brick hp a little higher, maybe 3 or 5, a couple more starting marbles and a higher multiplier & base number speed increase so after a few minutes it'll be much easier to remove big bricks. Well, that's quite a lot of changes, but if I were to mention the most important one is how easy it is to turn those 1s into almost unbreakable bricks too early into the game (and maybe the difficulty to clear bricks behind the spawn)
Edit: I forgot... I think that 11 684 968 is the biggest Death Star ever released :D

I like how each color had a role.

(No spoilers)

Purple was the damage dealer, because it was focusing in more outburts upgrades in multiplayers and base numbers and avarage shields and marbles count

Green was a spammer, avarage shield count, avarage hp bricks but it had so much marbles, it always had the double or a little more than the rest, with a little above avarage in multiplayer and avarage start num.

Orange was a tanker, low start number, avarage multi upgrades, and low marbles. But it had the double or more hp brick than everyone and it had like 50% more shields than everyone else.

And cyan... cyan was just the noob that didn't know how the play the game and raged quitted because is to bad.

Something I have noticed in the all multiply release battles is that the first color to get a big one dominates, because the rest of the colors aren't able to regain a foothold. Since the other colors are focused on defending, they aren't expanding as much, leading to that one big marble sticking around forever, much longer than it should be. After that, the one color now has a marble to protect and defend, and can just focus on making an obscene amount of everything else. A mechanic that might fix this is if a marble is above a certain amount for a certain amount of time, it decreases, then repeat, so bigger marbles have a shorter lifespan before they decrease, and the smaller they get, the longer the lifespan before they decrease. Just a thought to prevent this, as it seems to happen very often.

I accidentally jumped to the end when I tried to full screen 😅 Thankfully one of my favorite colors was winning, so I just got to enjoy the ride.
I really liked the brick HP! It added a really fun defensive aspect to the game.
