___

In this video I answer a question about mastery. Is it okay to divert your interests in many directions, or is it better to focus on one thing?

I explore why I value mastery highly and explain how it benefits you to focus on one or two things that you're great at. Mastery is undervalued in our society. It's okay to work to be great at something!

This has been important for me my entire life. Sadly I have been discouraged from everything I was ever passionate about practicing every single day. I was in music from a very young age and was in band all through high school. I later went back to college to study music, but burned out. I have been doing a lot of personal development over the past 4 years and it's been quite a wild ride, jumping from practicing clarinet 3-4 hours 5 days a week for 2 1/2 years to studying chess 4-8 hours a day for 2 years. Between 2010-2012 I was studying Japanese that way, and later Mandarin. I also studied programming for 4-8 hours a day around 2012-2016. Sadly none of those has led me anywhere as far as an income is concerned. I am not going to make the mistake of giving up anymore, and am putting 100% of my life into chess and growing my YT/twitch and improving my chess to Master and beyond, networking toward becoming a coach. I don't know when these things will start earning me an income at all, but I need it to happen and I will constantly adjust to make it happen.

I wish i found this video earlier. I've been focusing on way too many things all the time before a couple of months ago.
