US official disputes Ukraine's claim Russia launched intercontinental ballistic missile | BBC News

A US official has disputed Kyiv's claim that Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Ukraine, reports the BBC's US partner CBS News.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukraine was attacked with a "new Russian rocket" and suggests it has the "characteristics" of an ICBM.

Russia has refused to comment - instead it claims, without further information, to have shot down two UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles

ICBMs are designed to deliver nuclear warheads, but can also be fitted with conventional explosives, and travel thousands of kilometres at high speed. There's no suggestion a nuclear warhead was deployed in this case.

It's still unclear exactly what was damaged in the attack, which Ukraine says was targeting infrastructure in the eastern city of Dnipro.

Ukraine did not launch any long-range missiles, they cannot operate the equipment. Ukraine is just the launch platform. Other than that, it is all U.S.A. Military.

ICBM or R-26 type does not matter, the point you are missing is that, those two types are made to be carrying Nuclear war-heads. the missile was carried out from Astrakhan in Russia which is a far far away from the frontlines, and for it not to be detected by the air defense systems and strike the centre of a city is what should you should be concerned about! that is a warning shot to put it simply. for the record, Russia has these types more than 1500 warheads.
if you saw the flash light of that strike you would think its a nuke strike. its incredible that these deadheads are even thinking of supplying more weapons, its insane.
