Why Do Our Brains Have Distinct Hemispheres?

We used to think having a distinct left and right brain was something unique to humans. But brain lateralization has now been found in everything from chickens to spiders! Does this change our theories for why some brains work that way?

Because this is the internet I feel the need to point out how much I like the new guy.
I hadn't even noticed that he talks slower than the other hosts, but just noticed his calmness.
Don't let the critics get you down, Andrew! You're great!

Reasons to keep the New Guy:
* Knowledgeable about neuroscience
* Clever transitions
* Top of his class in the Hank Green school of emphatic speaking

I like it when my brain tries to understand a brain .

Anthony is fantastic! Very articulate, clear, and calming presentation. Everyone has a different preference for speed - honestly I'd rather have a speaker who is a bit slow for my taste as I find that adjusting the speed in the video to be faster distorts pitch less noticably.

Stoked to finally see him hosting after seeing him introduced a couple times in prior videos. Always exciting to see new voices added to the SciShow crew :)

I've been listening to Hank WAY TOO MUCH: I needed to set this at 1.25× speed!

Welcome, Anthony Brown! I look forward to learning more from you in the future. It’s a joy seeing new presenters come into their own.

Curious question: were you by any chance a teacher before this job? Maybe an elementary school teacher? Your speech pattern reminds me of some teachers. I mean that in a good way!

Does this new host have the superpower of never having to blink, or is he staring directly into my soul throughout this video ?

I like the new guy. He has the perfect voice for the show and it's relaxing. Good job dude! Can't wait to see more

I like Anthony. His more subdued attitude is a nice contrast to Brit and Hank's naturally more energic way of speaking

Welcome to the channel Mr.Brown. Just to let you know that we appreciate your soothing voice and slower speed. It's nice to have a variety of speed in the channel.
