Thanks! I tried all the convoluted software tweaks I could find and nothing worked. As a last resort, I followed your suggestion to get a cable that supported faster transfer rates - problem fixed!

Hours of searching, reading and useless YT videos ... nothing worked till I found your video! Firstly thanks! Secondly, I will never buy a Samsung external HD again.

You have to be kidding! When you said it's the cable I was thinking this can never be the issue. As my cable is good, it's fast and came with the drive. BUT as you guessed I used an other cable and it works. Unbelievable that the Apple Silicon refuses to mount the disk with a "slow" cable. THANKS VERY MUCH!!! 💙You saved me hours, reformatting and going crazy.

Great video, thank you for the information, Jake. Do you think it also could work with an usb c cable right angle type from UseBean?

OMG spent so long trying (and failing) to get my T7 working, tried erase or repair using Disk Futility which also didn't work. Thought I had a faulty product before trying this, thanks!

Thank you so much. Can confirm here that it is a cable issue and newer apple macbooks will not recognizing drives because the cable speed isn't fast enough. I tried every USBC cable in the office and the only one that worked was a 30+FT USB3.1 10Gbps

I reset the security settings, I redownloaded the previous Samsung Portable SSD application, I checked that the external disks were shown, I restarted everything and then I discovered that that application has no longer been valid for half a month, so I redownloaded Samsung Magician, I restarted the computer again. Moral of the story: after watching your video I simply changed the cable to the one I use to charge my Mac: it works.
Thank you, you saved me another 3 wasted hours of my life.😅

I have bought the cables in hopes it would work but it still says disconnected. I have also followed other videos instruction which led me to restarting my computer & lowering down the privacy settings & it still doesn't seem to work. I have a Macbook Pro M3 Pro chip with Sonoma 14.4 currently installed. I am not sure what other steps to take. Maybe this information might be enough for you to help me out.

I switched from c to usb to make room and it wouldn’t show up this definitely saved me😅💯💯

Its so weird, been using my T5 on my MacBook Pro M1 Pro, but its not found anymore. Like at all. It doesn't show up in Disk utility either. The blue light on the T5 works though so it's doing something

Do you think this trick would still work if I am getting an additional error saying that the certificate from the T5 expired?

Thanks. That is what I suspected. I will get a high speed cable.
