This video demonstrates the design and simulation of Half wave AC to DC Controlled rectifier with R Load using PSIM (POWERSIM). Half-wave AC to DC Controlled rectifier is used for conversion of AC to DC only during the one-half cycle. Half-wave AC to DC Controlled rectifier employs one thyristor. The thyristor is triggered during positive half cycle. In the negative half cycle, the thyristor does not conduct due to the natural commutation of the supply. A 230V AC supply with a firing angle of 30 degrees is considered in this design. The output voltage will appear only during one-half cycle and it gets clamped to zero volts during the negative half cycle (Due to resistive load).
