I have seen her 6 times in concert and when she gets hyped during a song it almost looks like she is one or making love to her piano. It is so amazing to see some a singer that involved.

Interesting that she would experiment with this song in particular rather than going with, say, an angry political song.
I've had the impression that she does have a bit of a giving, submissive side in her, but that she's always been uncomfortable with or guarded about expressing it because of the horrible degrading experiences she had and the conservative upbringing on her fathers side of the family, like there's a fear not only of being taken advantage of, but of somehow become complicit in it.

And then there's this song that comes wholly from this pitiful, begging position "I've been rejected and I absolutely cannot deal", wholly, unapologetically raw and completely unguarded.

And still she goes and does it, and you can tell there's still some uncertainty in the first verse where she's not fullyx sure how much of her own colors to insert, but by the time she did the chorus she was definitely on the right frequency and yet also comfortably owning it and creating a stunning performance.

I guess such is the transformative power of art, and why she experiments with becoming a lot of different characters.
