Mai Tai is a cocktail based on rum, Orange liqueur, orgeat syrup, and lime juice. It is one of the characteristic cocktails in Tiki culture.
Victor J. Bergeron claimed to have invented the Mai Tai in 1944 at his restaurant, Trader Vic's, in Oakland, California, US.
Victor served this drink to its friends and after Carrie took one sip of it she said, “Mai Tai-Roa Aé,” which means “Out of this world-the best” in Tahitian. There is where he decided to call the drink Mai Tai.
The tiki culture is a blend of the Polynesian and the Caribbean. It was a place where people could escape reality and be transported to the tropics while enjoying tropical flavored cocktails. The cocktails were a careful combination of tropical flavors like lime juice, curaçao liqueur, and Caribbean rum.

30 ml Dark Rum rum
15 ml orange curacao
15 ml orgeat syrup
30 ml fresh lime juice
7.5 ml simple syrup
