Cordless Quik Drive Auto Feed Screw Gun

At the International Builders Show in Las Vegas I was able to demo the new Quik Drive Cordless 250G2 stand up screw gun. It uses the 2500 rpm DeWalt driver and the kit includes 2 4ah batteries. .

I’ve been in discussions with our engineer because while “glue & screw” is often considered “best practice” it may not necessarily be allowed for the floor diaphragm construction. Your engineer may specify a 10d nail common, to fasten subfloor to joists. What is the equivalent screw for a 10d common? The @Strongtie WSV subfloor screw is the only fastener to be “dual-evaluated under ICC-ES AC233 and AC120 for wood-frame subfloor fastening.” What does that mean for you and me? These screws have the lateral, shear and withdrawal values that exceed those of 10d common nails. No more square drive! The 6 lobe T25 bit strips much less. Every box of screws comes with a bit.

The other advantage on the labor side is that we can fasten subfloor without bending over. It is a little slower than blasting away with a gun, but by the time the floor is sheathed we’ve found with a good rhythm that total time isn’t increased and a screwed floor is less likely to squeak.

What drill are you actually using is that versa torque or a drywall screw gun

i used a similar system from a different manufacturer, and i spend more time fixing the auto feed than i did actually putting screws in the decking. i just went back to crawling around with a bag of screws and a screw guide on a regular screw gun

You mentioned that it can also be used as drywall gun. Wouldn't the sharp edges (designed for deck and subfloor system) damage the drywall paper?.

Does anyone know if these attachments and drill will do the drywall screws as well or only deck? I see an entire kit like this with 2 batteries a charger drill and all the attachements for 460 which it seems like a steal but would want it to do both drywall and deck screws. My friends Metabo did both but didn’t do decks that well it struggled a little bit skipping on the heads of the deck screws.

Okay so you can use other screws other than drywall I’ve asked a lot of people no one could answer. I knew I could find something on your channel about it. I wish I could find out where you got the attachment

When you’re sheathing the floor are you rtcking them with screws or nails and then coming back with that to screw them off? Or would you normally have a guy screwing the sheets off as you’re setting the next one?
