My therapist told me I only needed to do things 70%. Really took the weight off my shoulders to have a professional tell me 70% was OK and recommended.

A quote that a boss might take less issue with is, “don’t let ‘perfect’ be the enemy of ‘good.’”

lately i’ve been using the quote “if you can’t beat fear, just do it scared” it made me realize that you can’t wait to feel not scared, sometimes you have to take the leap and sees what happens

"Aiming low and achieving high is better than aiming high and only achieving low" - I live by this quote from my music teacher

The slogan during my grad program was “B’s get degrees.” That program was SO STRESSFUL for me and others. I literally went into therapy because of it. During my annual reviews I kept getting told I “didn’t care enough” and I finally flat out told her “If I try to care anymore than I do it will complete my mental breakdown.”

ETA: Because a lot of people feel the need to correct me, in my doctoral program you had to achieve B or better. Getting a C failed you.

That put it all in perspective for me.

My favorite quote is "anything worth doing is worth doing badly." Some effort is almost always better than no effort.

Perfectionism hasn’t spoken since! Jk it always comes around and I just hit it with the “imma give it a B effort again!” Saves the day

(I probably phrased that wrong but you get the idea)

Mine is “anything worth doing is worth doing half-arsed”. Sometimes I have trouble getting things doing due to overstimulation/sensory issues, so I just wouldn’t do them at all. Now my slogan gives me permission to start and stop when I need to, or change things to make it easier to finish. It’s made all the difference.

As someone who struggles with perfectionism, this idea of giving it a B effort is scary! I don't know how I feel about it, probably anxious, but I'll give it a shot today and update you guys 😂

My version of that is "done is better than perfect". It's been a game changer for actually getting things done my perfectionism. When it's done and I'm still hypercritical of some imperfect thing, I remind myself that I'm probably the only one who will notice and definitely the only one who will care.

Mine is similar! "A half ass job is better than no ass at all" as someone with ADHD, I relate 😂

I have performance issues and an a solid perfectionist and i realized that usually our 70% or B effort…is already way more than is needed for the specific task so yes. Great advice

Favorite quote is "Hell is paved with good intentions". I believe it applies to everyone and helps you step back to realize these good intentions are hurting people and often yourself. Your intentions with being hard on yourself is to be the "best" but it often leads to burn out and not starting or finishing anything at all.
