What truth hurts the most once you learn it? 🤔

My idea of parenting was this, making sure my kids would be more successful than me. Now my 23 year old daughter makes double my income in an amazing career, and also owns her own business, about to start a second business, and bought her own home last year. Something that at 44 I still have not achieved. My 18 year old son graduated a year early and is joining the Air Force to be an aircraft mechanic. He’s one of the most brilliant people I’ve ever met, and has a side hustle of building advanced robotics systems for corporations to implement in their day to day operations. Yes, that is his side hustle lol. I couldn’t be more overwhelmingly proud of how my kids have turned out. The flip side is their mother, who is jealous of their success and achievements, and constantly looks for reasons to bitch about it. She can’t handle the fact that neither of them went to college and have achieved these things, while she has a BS and MS and works for Geico because she’s a lazy slug who eats handfuls of narcotics every day as a hobby.

I'm a jealous of my kids for the childhood I'm giving them that I never received.
It's horrible being a sensitive, empathetic child growing up in an emotional/physically abusive household.
I'm proud that I've raised kids that are so healthy & strong, but hiding the chronic depression I've dealt with all my life is a struggle. I've always been very careful not to succumb to addictive substances or habits, tho sometimes I skirt the line, but it's all for them. The pure happiness, security & joy they have let me know I've done a good job ... but if I'd had the same, oh the pain I wouldn't have to endure on a daily basis.

Honestly this is what I wish the most for my kids. I don't mind to be a f-up who makes nothing compared to my kids as long as they are happy.

I bought my own home a month after i turned 22 all by myself. At 20 i was supporting my mom and brother after my dad left and i was trying to buy our house before the bank foreclosed on us. I couldn't get a loan big enough because who's giving $300k to a child without a co-signer. So i failed and my family and pets were separated. So i bought myself a small house for me and my girlfriend who stood by me the whole time. My mental health was ruined and becsuse of it she left.

So no family, no partner and a house i didn't want.

That's why I can never be a parent. One of the reasons would be jealousy, growing up getting neglected, used as free farm labour from 4 years old, being the least favourite of your siblings, getting treated badly due to disability... I'd want my kids to have an amazing childhood and future but I'd be so jealous of them being able to actually enjoy being alive.
However people very rarely think of the future when having kids no wonder we have so little people without depression, anxiety, DID, ED's and so on.
