As we pass Day 100 of lockdown, the music plays on, and Richard Cooke continues his #CookesTour with a soupçon of Chopin, whose music is packed with both pathos and finesse. Richard refers to him as ‘the Mozart of the 19th century – spontaneous, poetic and able to conjure up harmonies from far-off places, then to return to the overall key of a particular moment’.

Richard takes Chopin’s gorgeous Ballades1–4 as the subject of his 14th lockdown blog, and introduces them in this video.
