This conference marked the end of the PRO-RES project, a Horizon 2020 project with the aim of encouraging policymakers and advisers to seek evidence for their decisions from research that has been conducted ethically, responsibly, and with integrity. The conference presented the main project outcome, an ethical guidance framework for researchers, policy advisers and policymakers and discuss them in the broader context of the current crisis. In doing so, it touched upon the challenges of advising policymaking during COVID-19 and the road ahead for evidence-based policymaking and advice in times of permanent crisis.
