Full Stack Developer Boot-camp LinkedIn Internship

During the Full Stack Engineering Bootcamp on Monday June 26th, 2023, from 6pm to 10 pm, I lead a workshop that endeavored to help our students gain an understanding of the value of a strong LinkedIn following, effective strategies for landing internships in 2023, and how to build an authentic elevator pitch.

We kicked off the workshop covering how to build/leverage a strong LinkedIn following to find opportunities. I invited Antoni Tzavelas, a speaker/tech worker who boasts a 39k strong LinkedIn following. Antoni spoke about his career journey, the times he had to reinvent himself, and how every time he needed to find a new opportunity, he found one through his network (without having to go through the traditional hiring process). After his talk, Antoni graciously stuck around, took some Q and A from our students, and provided some constructive criticism on the LinkedIn profiles that our students had already created.

For the effective strategies for landing an internship portion of the workshop, I invited Tam Pham, the author of the book “How To Land Your Dream Internship” and someone who completed 6 internships in tech. Tam gave a presentation about his career in technology, and the numerous strategies that he used to land the 6 internships. We hope that our students can utilize the strategies that Tam discussed during his presentation and in his book to land their dream internships. Tam graciously donated

We wrapped up our workshop discussing the components of an authentic elevator pitch – 1) being likeable 2) demonstrating competence. We discussed the importance of making a good first impression when meeting with recruiters, hiring managers, and bosses.
