Follow Dolly on:

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm beggin' of you, please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can

Your beauty is beyond compare
With flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green
Your smile is like a breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you, Jolene
He talks about you in his sleep
And there's nothing I can do to keep
From crying when he calls your name, Jolene
And I can easily understand
How you could easily take my man
But you don't know what he means to me, Jolene

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you, please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can

You could have your choice of men
But I could never love again
He's the only one for me, Jolene
I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do, Jolene

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you, please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him even though you can
Jolene, Jolene

I love how beautifully she explained her home wrecker instead of bad mouthing... Not surprised because she's classy

Can we just appreciate how classy and tasteful Dolly is even in her songs? She doesn’t trash talk about the fact that “Jolene” is trying to take her husband. She politely asks her to stop doing what she’s doing and even gives her valid reasons as to why. She acknowledges her beauty and even admits she’s prettier than herself, but still goes to toe to toe with her and begs her to consider her actions. She’s a national treasure both in person and lyrically😩

This song breaks my heart, words are so simple and yet so vulnerable

Had to listen to the original after listening to Beyonce's version. Never heard this song before now, and I'm 54 years old. I love both versions. Dolly Parton's voice is beautiful and as smooth as butter.

I love you Dolly! You are one of very few celebrities from our southern Appalachians who I'm proud of. You are iconic and one of a kind, God broke the mold when he made you ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

I have always loved Dolly Parton’s music. “Jolene” and “Coat of Many Colors” are a couple of my favorite songs by Dolly Parton.

I am a death metal guitarist and everyone nearly has their heads implode when they hear that 'Jolene' is my favorite song of all time and that it was the first song I learned to play.
Dolly is my favorite female artist and another of my major influences was Paul Simon. I also have great respect for bluegrass pickers.

Dear Dolly - how my heart cries for you at the loss of your beloved Carl! I have been widowed twice, but by men I dearly loved, one just a year ago. I know your pain.

Please don't let grief change you or put out the light you share with us all! You are so very much loved here in East Tennessee and in the wider world!

You have been and will remain in my prayers.

Another Tennessee Girl ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Love that she made a lyric video as if everyone across the planet doesn't know them already. Keep killing it dolly!

Dolly Parton may have originally thought that she didn’t fit in with the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, but her catalog (both solo and with Porter Wagoner) proves that she is more than a perfect fit!
