Brother, I build ponds for a living, and if you keep tossing them rock's onto the liner like that, you are going to have holes all over the place. Also, never rotate them like that when they are on the liner . It creates pinch points and rub tares. Also, make sure you put in a over flow pipe out of your skimmer. I know you don't get a lot of rain, but the times it happens, if your edges overflow from rain water, you are going to end up with a ton of sand and dirt in your pond.
Should have put this bit in the original post . Your vision is absolutely beautiful, though brother, just trying to help you prevent a pain in the ass after all that work. Also, when you are building a pond, it's best to have the attitude that it's not a race it's a marathon. Take your time, plan out each rock and stone, study the rock before u move it, and find the spot it fits. It is like building the craziest 3d puzzle u ever did . No matter what, don't rush.
I keep thinking of other things . I would look into creating a bog filter at the top of your fall if possible. Maybe across from uoir waterfalls. It looks like you're going to use a biofall. Bio-falls are great. They are the human interpretation of a natural blog filter.
Dig a small area out maybe 4ft wide by 6 foot long by 16 to 18 inches deep. Letting its lowest edge fall into the pond. You will want a minimum of 2 extra layers of liner or pads in the bog. This is to protect the main liner when you shovel out the gravel every 2 to 4 years. Use 1.5 inch pvc to create a grid for the bottom. You will need. Using 13 1.5 inch pvc tee's and 4 1.5 inch elbow, run a piece of pipe every 6 inches at the width of 4 ft. You will have 8, 1.5 inch pvc lines that are 6 foot long. Drill a 1/4 inch hole ever 2 inches into the pipes length wise. Add a y connection in your water fall pipe line or get a separate pump. If using a y on the mian pump line, also add a ball valve. Connect this line to the odd man out tee good ol number 13 with the ball valve in-line. Fill the bog filter with pea gravel. Tell it's 4 inches for the spillover . Add as many plants to this area. These should be heavy filtering aquatic plants. I prefer to use edible aquatic planst in these do to the heavy nutrient load that causes rapid growth. Once they are in, fill in the rest with pea gravel, then turn on your pump using the ball valve to adjust the flow . Please @Sean_Gatz feel free to contact me i am without a doubt, willing to talk your ear off and help you to create more of a living pool with tons of edible aquatic plants and game fish to eat all while being able to swim in crystal clear water that dont stink.

Steel toes definitely would help. It's a myth that they'll cut your toes off. If something was to put that much force down, your foot would've been smashed either way. But up and to that point it will absolutely save your foot. So yeah, good idea for rocks of that size for sure.

Id suggest putting underlayment over the liner/ under the rock so you don’t puncture any holes. Or just try not to be too rough and don’t drop rocks down. Just a little trade secret. Good luck with the pond build!

I use to do that all the time when I was younger. Paying for it now that I’m older. But hats off to you for doing it. A little kabota bx tractor or a John Deere 1025r would save you a lot of time and pain in the long run. They are worth there weight in gold when it comes to saving your body when you get older
