🚨🚨🚨MAJOR BREAK IN A 10 YEAR OLD BREVARD COUNTY COLD CASE, WE HAVE FOUND YEKATERINA BELAY‼️
💔 10 years and 84 days have elapsed since a Melbourne, Florida mother vanished, leaving her 3 daughters with questions unanswered. We hope this finding can offer her loved ones some solace after years of grieving her mysterious disappearance.
🔴 Disappearance Details
Katya Belaya was last seen at her home on Rock Springs Drive in Melbourne, Florida on September 28, 2014. She was driving a white 2003 Honda Odyssey minivan with the Florida license plate number A43-1CR. The evening of her disappearance, she told her daughter she was going to the store and would return in 30 minutes. A check of her financial records indicated that she never made it to a store that night. Her cell phone last pinged in the area of the Powerline and Viera, a short time later. This is roughly 3 miles NW of her residence. She never returned and has never been heard from again. Her white 2003 Honda Odyssey minivan has never been recovered. Belaya was a science professor at Eastern Florida State College and a mother of 3.
🔴 August 28, 2024, marked the announcement via Facebook social media of our intention to take on the 10-year cold case in the following months.
🔴 December 19, 2024, we made contact with Katya’s family and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit. We requested additional information on the case. That key information ultimately resulted in the discovery of Katya‘s remains.
🔴 December 20, 2024, at 3:37 PM, after searching 32 bodies of water and locating 2 submerged vehicles, we located Katya’s white Honda Odyssey minivan with human remains submerged 24 feet deep, upside down, in a retention pond off Viera Blvd in Melbourne. This is approximately 1.6 miles from her home. It is unclear how the van ended up in the pond. The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is investigating. *DNA results are pending.
💔 We extend our deepest sympathies to her friends and family. We appreciate your discretion in not contacting Katerina's family during this extremely difficult time.
⭐️ Special thanks to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Florida (Official) Dive Team for the incredible job they did under extremely challenging circumstances. We can't express enough how grateful we are that Florida has some of the best Law Enforcement Dive Teams in the country. Without their involvement and expertise, these recoveries wouldn't be possible.
