Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.

I took my girls to see it yesterday. It was amazing!  I am a big fan of the original and I thought this remake did it justice. My girls said they liked this one better. A little girl is a little girl regardless of skin color. Some of the comments here are gross. You should be ashamed.

Thanks for finally depicting an "ANNIE" who looks like me and the majority of the other "Orphan" and/or "Foster" children raising themselves in America…The kind nobody wants, with kinky hair that pressing combs resist and a big gap between the teeth, the kind the BIG BULLY thrives on…A Family Movie that I look forward to seeing with my family and live forward to adding to my collection of All time GREAT MOVIES…It is the original Annie, about an orphan, that inspired Annie, about a foster child, which is where most children of color go...I give thanks for both of these Family classics, each Divine in their respective times…Both making the other's shine glow brighter, focusing love and humanity's attention on societal issues💖

At first I had doubts about this adaptation when only the teaser was released.  But just today I was at a family gathering and got to see my second cousin (who is mixed race, mom was african american and she was adopted by my cousin and his wife.)  And when that little girl saw this trailer she was so excited to see it and even said "she looks just like me!"  That's what this film is doing, trying to show positive representation of POC kids.

I loved watching annie on vhs as a kid, it's gonna be hard to actually think of it as an annie movie but I should give it a shot, to see how they've adapted it to modern times.

ANNIE is AhMazing! The plot adaptations are very, very clever. And the great singing and acting and upbeat-despite-all-odds-vibe will make you leave the theater smiling. See it in that theater while you still can! Btw that Canavale character could win Dancing With The Stars! Can he spin a dame! And Jamie Foxx sounds like an angel singing in heaven. He and Diaz are hilarious.
