i think aemonds reaction at the end is one of a genuinely scared and remorseful boy. he didn’t intend to actually kill luke he just wanted to scare him and lost control of his dragon, secondly this his death will do nothing but fuel the war that is about to break loose and i think aemond realized that if they didn’t have a reason to start a war they definitely do now

The first mistake was Viserys taking a second wife. Second mistake was not letting Daemon marry Rhaenyra. Third mistake was Rhaenyra having those strong boys out of wedlock. Fourth mistake was making fun of Aemond with a pig instead of a dragon. Fifth mistake was Aemond claiming a dragon that wasn’t his, starting a fight that would lose him an eye. Sixth mistake daring to crown Aegon when Viserys made it specifically clear Rhaenyra was his heir. Final mistake was Aemond trying to scare Lucerys and accidentally killing him when he lost control of his dragon. And that my friends is how a war in Game of Thrones begins.

It’s unfortunate to know that Helaena would be the one to suffer from not only Aemond’s rash decisions but also her entire mother’s side of the family. Her son didn’t deserve to die, she didn’t deserve to see him slaughtered right in front of her. If only Alicent let Otto die out the rest of his days in Oldtown and supported Rhaenyra’s claim.

I’m not saying Nyra’s reign would be a peaceful one (it will be an uphill battle for most of it tbh considering how misogynistic the westerosi are) but if the greens were with her she would have a fighting chance. If Alicent took up Rhaenyra’s proposal to wed Jace to Helaena then her daughter would be queen consort and her grandkids would inherit the throne after their father. Her daughter wouldn’t be driven to madness. She wouldn’t also be driven to madness over losing everyone. She along with her children would have been able to live longer and peaceful. Her younger son wouldn’t lose his eye. Her older son wouldn’t be such a creep if she actually showed him love and compassion and taught him to not be a cunt. Her daughter wouldn’t be raped by her own brother/husband. So much shit avoided if Otto didn’t come back as Hand of the King
