Hemoglobin is generally the measure of how healthy your blood is. It is basically a pigment contained in the red blood cells of the body, responsible for carrying oxygen in the body. The responsibility of Hemoglobin, is the responsibility of the red blood cells, which inturn is the responsibility of bone marrow which is there is the long bones of your body. Hemoglobin if it is less you will have symptoms of fatigue and symptoms of breathlessness. In males the regular values is supposed to be 13 to 18 grams per deciliter. In females the expected value is in between 12 and 16. Anything less than this is considered not so great. Anything less than 10 is considered as some kind of problem. Anything less than 7 is some kind of problem. You don’t have to go to the doctor when your Hemoglobin drops down to 7. When your Hemoglobin is down at 10, you have to find out from your doctor if diet will suffice or medicines are required. In all such cases below 6 is supposed to be pathological condition and maybe transfusion will be required, but go to your doctor when your Hemoglobin shows the first sign of dropping.

My hemoglobin was 8.3, so in February, 2023, I had 4 Rituximab infusions, with 50% chance of working. 6 months later I am 7.9, so it was a failure. Doctor said we can repeat, and add Bendamustine. Not sure what to do.
