Nothing wrong with a sprush (sponge brush) to get your locs started EXCEPT that sponges hold bacteria. Try the racket or the rubber sponge brush instead.

Sponge, Brush, or Towel (microfiber) using ine of those, then pick the roots not the top just the roots, locking jell which is optional but speds up the locking process
