Upland Bird Dog Training | Building Range

I recently had a subscriber reach out and ask how he could build more range into his bird dog. This is a tough subject because all dogs are different and this particular owner had a lab. Which are known to work closer to their handlers.

Dude this is what I needed I have a 10 week old Wirehaired pointing Griffon puppy and he wants to hang close. I’ve taken him out to taller fields for socialization and new smells and textures but never someplace clear where I could have no worries about cars and people. Thanks!!

Excellent videos! I have a one and a half year old viszla. He ventures to far for roughed grouse hunting. Trying to get him to stay closer. Any suggestions? Thank you for the videos.

Good info- I have a 6month old springer that will not range how I want- my other 2 are 10 and they run wild like your dog- shell run with them for 10-15 min and then it’s back to me- I’m going to get her in a field and see if this helps maybe throw a ball or bumper
