Of all the pieces that make the lyrics so absolutely brilliant, I can't help but feel like this one hits the hardest. It's a weird thing to live with depression for long enough to become self aware to the fact that your self-perception has been twisted and deformed beyond repair, at least in a way that no amount of therapy can correct as much as making you aware of when you are speaking and when your depression is. And I can't help but reas this song as a conversation with your self-loathing self. Because it does, it does feel better to shrug the shoulder like it's cool to be unhappy, to pretend you never need anybody else, to buy for a moment that you may be just a stone... because that's the only way you can escape that as much as life has been hard on you, your greatest tomentor will alway looks back at you on the mirror.

It's easier to resign to loneliness than it is to confront yourself, to confront why you gave up on yourself.

Part of what is just soul crushing about this line, is when you are so desperate to love someone in all the ways you can love yourself. Because you are willing to go through hell and back for someone, and yet, as much as selflesness makes a good lover, letting yourself be happier makes you a better one.

Happiness is deceitful much the same it is thrilling. You can have it all, but when can't answer one simple question, everything seems meaningless. "Are you ever really happy"

I believe there is a caveat to the saying that you can't hope to care for someone when you can't care for yourself. And that is that sometimes caring for someone else is an extension of caring for yourself, specially when you've been conditioned to see yourself as undeserving of kindness. But even now, it's hard to articulate just how painfully and yet simply elegant the truth is.

Yet again, to let yourself be happier, it'll make you a better lover. A better friend, a better partner, a better family, a better someone.

Last time I thought I was happy was when I thought someone had fallen for me and I had fallen for the attention they showed me. There were certain attractive qualities about them but more than all of that I loved the attention they showered me with. It wasn’t real happiness but it was the happiest I ever felt in a long time.
