I was able to get a copy of my MH DBQ before my claim was decided. Being frustrated, I shopped VERA telephone appointments in various states. Yes, you can do that. Just enter any region, not necessarily the one where your claim is.

Most said the DBQ was VA private. The last one said, "Sure, would you like me to mail you a copy?" And they did! I don't want to mention the name of that region publicly in case it would get them into trouble, but the actual letter was mailed from the national VA Evidence Intake Center in Wisconsin.

By the way, having the DBQ in hand made me MUCH less nervous about how my claim might be decided. I wish the VA would just release them to every Vet.

If you've served in a combat zone, you are eligible for counseling at a VA Vet Center. It's the best thing that the VA has ever done, IMHO.
