If you're open to it, I HIGHLY recommend Karnivool - Aeons (Ghost City Sessions), or Karnivool - Alpha Omega (Ghost City Sessions).

These guys are probably my favorite band out there, but they are a totally different animal when you can watch them perform, or just play together in a room. Those two studio performances are just pure magic. Think you'd really dig them! Especially for a chance to see how they distribute and handle playing parts live. Its awesome to see the Bass take the lead melodically so often!

Thanks for doing this track, it takes me back to when I was 17 seeing them for the first time at the Big Day Out (a big Australian music festival we had which was like the equivalent of your Lollapalooza festivals).

The guitarist of Karnivool, Drew Goddard, wrote basically this entire album himself, apparently. The band as it is today didn't play it together until after it's recording. Goddard even recorded the drum parts for the album as the current drummer, Steve Judd, hadn't joined the band officially yet.

I first heard this song in 2004 on XM radio. I bought the single on iTunes and waited for the Themata album. I have been their biggest fanboy ever since. I saw them in Dallas right after Sound Awake was released and that album has been the backing track of high school, college, and to the present. They also have my favorite metal guitar tones and ambient guitar. I have proceeded to buy all of the same equipment. Karnivool is the greatest band around.
