I think he just calls the Youtube API for video upload with his custom script. And idk how it works exactly, but the API might return what the URL will be before the upload finishes, so you can just upload a few frames of a rendered video to the API, then read the URL, and render the rest of the video with that URL text on the video.
Instead of having an actual file that gets a write lock, you have a stream of data as a 'file like object' so to the api it just looks like it's a fully fledged file, but in actuality it's just the first part, and only the rest will be available once you know the URL. You finish uploading the video. and Tada.

Another thought, you could start streaming, the stream will have a link, then instead of starting to stream, you stream the video rendered with that URL into the youtube API. Problem with this is that those usually leave behind a 'live chat' section (you can usually distinguish between a live stream and an actual video through some traits like that.

It's just a theory though.
