Ξυλοτορνος-Κατασκευη ενος μπολ απο πευκο-Woodturning -Making a pine bowl

This was a nice project is hard to find solid olive wood piece and the pine was great for a bowl 34 cm ! It is a very soft wood but very hard to be smooth and shine like olive wood !!! i have also the other half from the trunk so i will try to make a natural edge pine bowl !!
I hope for the next video to have ready my new (1940's) lathe !!!

Pines are among the most commercially important tree species valued for their timber and wood pulp throughout the world. In temperate and tropical regions, they are fast-growing softwoods that will grow in relatively dense stands, their acidic decaying needles inhibiting the sprouting of competing hardwoods. Commercial pines are grown in plantations for timber that is denser, more resinous, and therefore more durable than spruce (Picea). Pine wood is widely used in high-value carpentry items such as furniture, window frames, panelling, floors and roofing, and the resin of some species is an important source of turpentine.

Η Κουκουναριά ή ήμερο πεύκο επιστ. P. pinea - Πεύκη η πίτυς, είναι πυκνό, ψηλό και σχηματίζει "ομπρέλα". Τα κουκουνάρια του είναι μεγάλα, με μεγάλα σκληρά σπόρια. Φύεται σε παραθαλάσσιες ή πεδινές περιοχές, κυρίως στις Σποράδες αλλά και στη Χαλκιδική, Στερεά και Πελοπόννησο. Απαντά επίσης στις περισσότερες περιοχές της Μεσογείου. Το ξύλο του χρησιμοποιείται σαν στρογγυλή ξυλεία και παραγωγή σανιδωμάτων (παρκέ). Τα σπόρια του , γνωστά και αυτά με την ονομασία κουκουνάρια, χρησιμοποιούνται στη μαγειρική και τη ζαχαροπλαστική.
