BREAKING: #Seahawks and #Titans trade linebackers

Per Tom Pelissero, the #SeattleSeahawks and #TenneseeTitans have traded linebackers Jerome Baker and Ernest Jones IV with the Seahawks also sending a 4th round draft pick.

Lotta hate in here for this trade.

Understand they had high hopes for Jerome coming in sure, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. They were probably hoping his coverage ability would carry the weaker parts of his game, but so far it just hasn’t. Better to rip the bandaid off now when you’ve still got a legit shot to win the NFC.

Ernest is younger, a much more aggressive penetrator on run plays, and has similar stats for a guy that’s been playing in a much worse defensive scheme.

If he wants to get paid next year? He still has to earn it lol… If we lose out and he plays terrible, he’s definitely not getting a new contract.

Seahawks still have a 4th left, so they really aren't losing much here. Both players will be FA at the end of the year, but Jones is younger and has much more potential upside for resigning.

We picked up dl Robertson from jags, lb Ernest Jones, free agent Josh Ross from Baltimore, Coby Bryant looked solid at safety. The foundation is being laid. Also Terrell stepped up at rt in ATL and both Lucas and Fant have returned to practice. We have to remain realistic because we are not a super bowl team this year but I definitely see an opportunity for the playoffs and division this year. It reminds me of the first year of the LOB under Pete

Let's hope he can play coverage too. A lot of times it seems it's either/or. Play the run or the pass well, but not both. That's been an issue for the Seahawks for the past few years, at least since Bobby Wagner slowed down as he got older.
