SpaceX has called California home for 22 years, meaning it used to manufacture its rockets in California and ships them to Texas for testing.
For SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, there are several key factors that made California an attractive location for aerospace and technology companies:

In SpaceX's wild days, Elon Musk reached out to the hobby rocket groups of southern California and it was far easier to recruit them where they were at.
This place also allows SpaceX to access funding and investment. The state's vibrant venture capital scene has historically provided significant funding opportunities for startups and tech companies, facilitating growth and development.

The final comments that SpaceX leaving opens a window for new firms is just blue sky thinking. Those new companies will run into the same brick wall of regulation that made it difficult for SpaceX to operate in California. While California currently has a large pool of tech candidates, that talent will be California's next export as people leave and go to where the jobs with a future are located.

I'm a spaceaholic ... really wish our policy favored space flight and exploration. Admire Musk for his range of invention. But I am also a Democrat and I was NOT shocked by this highly predictable move. Frankly I don't know any who are. Texas IS a battleground state with volatile Republican and Democratic (not to mention Independent) populations. But ... I digress. Tech Map is kinda nuts, and has been going that way for a while. And so has Musk since his X (Twitter) procurement. The technical strength is SpaceX and Tesla have helped Musk enormously, but rather than focus on gratitude be is out for revenge of some sort. Hope he wises up!

Not only will people leave the area to find other work while others follow the company to Texas, but career seeker will stop migrating to the area for SpaceX jobs. There is nothing that will back-fill the gap that SpaceX leaves behind. And SpaceX is not the only company closing up and vacating the state due to lack of law enforcement and poor social and business conditions. Next up, California will be poor-mouthing about "revenue short falls" and "budget the while acting like its "an economic downturn" when really, California in general and Gavin Newsom in particular did this to themselves leaving a deficit for whoever governs next.
