My friend's husband works in IT and said pretty much the same things. He has a lot of experience in different parts of his career, and just like you, was very upfront about things "in the real world". I started with simple questions, told him about what I enjoy and what I loved about my last job, and I realized that a lot of what I do is critical thinking and problem solving. I learned that I was a pretty meticulous, attentive to detail and inventive. I wasn't so intimidated by this career field anymore, and it actually made me want to step into learning about cyber security. I highly recommend just asking someone who is in the field/related field or simply requesting some time to speak to an employer about this type of position. You also get a feel for how your potential boss would be like, too.

I wanted to thank you for your videos and all the information you share, I'm from Costa Rica and I've been following your channel for several of months now, since I decided I wanted to pursue a career in cybersecurity I've been following your suggestions, training recommendations, projects, how to make a CV, etc... and I was able to obtain my first job in cybersecurity without any experience, I was hired as a vulnerability assessment engineer thanks to your guidance.

You was spitting game in this video ❤️. I decided to pursue 'Digital network exploitation analyst.' I'm going to put 110% into this. I really want to get paid the big bucks. I know you said you shouldn't do it for the money, but after working hard labor. Studying and applying myself mentally for a "boring job at times" isn't so bad lol.

I'm about to start a Cybersecurity boot camp next month where at the end I'll have the knowledge to take the CompTIA CySA+ exam. If I pass that, I plan on studying for the security+ exam. Thanks for this video!!

As a former cyber security specialist, it's not a very fun job. Most of the time you'll be helping people reset their passwords and do other basic shit like that, but if you don't want to move all day it's a good job for you. I just couldn't stand being at home all day and had to find something better for me, so if you're an active guy don't even think about looking for this position because you will dread this job.

Hey thanks for the video, I liked and subbed.

I just turned 30 few months ago, currently have a Associates Degree in Visual Arts which I know is untrelated, Comptia A+, just got Sec +, and now working on my Network+. The role as a Printer/copier field technician makes up the majority of my work experience (7 years as one). I moved on from that once I had a change in health which limited my ability to travel/drive. I work as a server test technician now which sounds like a lot to do with IT, but really is just running a script which tests to see if equipment will fail under stress. The job gives me lots of down time to study for certs though, recently got my a+ and Sec+. When you turn 30 you definitely feel older and like you have to get your life somewhat together. 😂
Goals start to feel bit further out of reach everyday.

My next step would be to get a degree in Computer Science or Cybersec @ WGU since some of my credits would count towards it and that online university is pretty affordable .

Any advice?
thanks!

I have a Degree in Computer Engineering and will finish in 2 semesters a Master in Cybersecurity, but I'm worried to never get a job because of the lack of EXP and my age (all job offers I see are asking for Juniors or at least 1 year of EXP). I'm less stressed now after watching this video because I see that I already have "some" EXP when working in IT, such as password reset, patch installation or problem solving developed on customer service positions.

hello I've been interested in cyber security for a bit now and just started to take action with signing up for community college for a degree in cyber security.
I have just been taken time off from school for a bit now and still very young and felt like this field has been most interesting and to catch my eye since looking for an actual career. I've been watching what I can on YouTube and taking as much notes as possible I like all the videos I've seen on your channel! thank you for all the info😁
