one of the greatest songs of all time, and not even one single goddamn word is said.

To me, the way it's played here makes it seem more like a tribute to Cliff rather than just performing the song. It's played slower, allowing the piece to sound more powerful and in my opinion even a bit sad.

For the people that are wondering, this is song is indeed played live but there is no audience. They play it at the end of the movie and its just them jamming this out together in a very intimate and awesome way.

I don't know why people hate this version, I really loved, Trujillo is awesome on the bass <3

I think Rob does a great job here. He's the only one playing an outsanding solo written by a unique bassist about 15 years before he even joined the band, still he manages to sound closer to the original than his bandmates who co-wrote the song. Rob shows respect, humility, professionality, technique and soul.

Every version of "Orion" is amazing. Just as the song itself is. This one is no better and no worse that the '86 "original" version. And even when it's played live, with all the mistakes and slips, it still kicks ass and "sends shivers down your spine". This is just "Orion" - nothing more to be said here.

Admittedly the only movie credits I watched fully and enjoy everytime.

In fact I would love it if Egypt would allow Metallica to shoot a live version of this song at the Giza plateau since it was obviously built as a representation of Orions belt! That would be fucking awesome

seriously peole if you don't want to listen to this go listen to the original.  I like this version because it's a more modern sound and of course we've got rob on the bass.  there's nothing wrong with this version.  and personally, i think lars adding in fills makes his part more interesting and fun to listen to.  that's why I'm here, that's why I'm listening.  Why are you here?  just for the sake of spreading negativity?

James in those shades, just chilling on that riff like a Blues player. That was epic to the nth degree.

Dam near cried when I heard this at the end of such an epic movie/concert. This is probably my fav Metallica song. My buddy would not tell me how it ended only that I would love it. He was right. Goosebumps for sure when this \m/ That middle section... EVERY SINGLE TIME... dam.... best ever.

Some people say lars's drumming is awful, he can't do bass drum bla bla bla...lars has never wanted to be a superdrumer, his conception of drumming is based on giving to de song the solid base neded and create a sonorous compact block. It is not bad, if you want crazy skills on drums there are other drummers who offer that, not all drummers must be highly technical there are many other like lars who prefer play easy and feel the strenght of the band and headbang!! Enjoy what you have because some day you'll not have it anymore...
