What Happened To Gorbachev?

He was the man who ushered in a new era of world politics when he helped to dismantle Communist rule in Russia. Mikhail Gorbachev will be remembered throughout history because of his accomplishments at the end of the U.S.S.R.

However, his work wasn’t done when he resigned from his position at the top of the Russian government. At sixty years old, he was only just beginning his post-Communist journey. Between writing memoirs, starting charities, rubbing elbows with important figures, and working with the Green Cross, Mikhail Gorbachev has been nothing if not busy.

Most people probably don’t know what happened after retiring from his first run in politics, so let’s take a look at what happened to Mikhail Gorbachev.

I would imagine he is truly stressed about what is going on with Russia now.
I respect the man.

Gorbachev is still alive. Someday I would love to talk to him. He sounds like the kind of guy who is like a grandfather that you have a great time with, taking him and talk at a cafe drinking coffee or tea. I can talk to him about the Soviet Union and etc

I always liked and respected Mr. Gorbachev. Had guts for doing things that didn't go well with his party. He always seemed to work for the good of the world.

I remember him as a world class act. Very intelligent. And he did the impossible paying a heavy price for it. He will go down in history as one amazing man. He deserves it

I saw an interview with him years ago where he warned that the younger Russian leaders coming into power didn’t live through WW2 and essentially knew nothing about what the Soviet Union endured.

He was a man ahead of his time... his comments about the expanding influence of global media and social media in particular were most prescient. He warned of the present situation with Ukraine some years ago. Also, the work he has done in bringing experts from all fields of endeavor to encourage new approaches and ways of thinking for people and society. At his heart, I believe he loves his country and his people, and remains a true patriot. History will look very kindly on him, and especially for guiding us all away from the nuclear threat of existential destruction - where now, unfortunately and most regrettably, we seem to be drifting back towards like moths to the proverbial flame.

I have always had a lot of respect for Gorby. He really was one of the most influential people of the twentieth century and a force for positive change in the world.

Thank you for sharing clear, and clean history. It's getting difficult finding history without a narrative. This channel gets my vote for transparency.

Mr Gorbachev deserved the Noble Peace Prize. He improved the lives of millions of people. It is good to see his life was very productive after his presidency and that he tried politics again. He deserves world- wide recognition and accolades for keeping the world at peace and his humanitarian efforts. God bless him and his family.

Have respect for him. Shame his reforms came too late for his country. He could've led a new, reformed USSR for a few more years before leaving office with quiet dignity and grace.

The fact that many people refer to him as a Gorby instead of Gorbachev shows that he is deeply appreciated and loved for what he did to end the cold war and worked for peace. Current generations don't have any idea of how important this man was for shaping a better future back then.
