The intro jus HIT me like a truck " the endless liquefying and adjusting went you are drawing faces", for some reason even though the tool exist I barely use it, i just got the revelation that i could be using it instead of redrawing the face every time, I do use the lasso and transform tool sometimes but i can see the liquefying tool be used for different uses cases T_T

I've had one of Nsio's tutorials saved on my drive for YEARS, and every time I look at it the thing I'm immediately hit with is that it feels like I'm looking at an extremely technical blueprint that I don't quite understand, but I can still see the value of it regardless. That person is an art machine.

1:40 this is the exact order I follow when drawing a head as a beginner artist, and it's so much easier knowing the proportions after the face structure itself since u aren't forced to do another angle you didn't want, unlike doing the eye first then face

Oh dang, didn't realize it was a new vid. Never even seen your channel before.
That's some good stuff. About 5 months ago I picked up drawing again with the intent to get actually good at drawing characters and the first method I found that kinda worked for drawing heads was the Loomis Method. But I've been struggling to keep everything in place consistenly. I hit a jackpot sometimes, but there's a lot of doubt on where to put the eyes and the distance between them.
I never tried to draw the nose and mouth first, and yeah, it actually makes it easier. Genuinely not a minute after this video I did 2 faces, same method, even ignoring the eyes and brow position steps and voilá, it's all correct, or at least deceivingly enough so. It's such a simple solution that I feel stupid for not trying before lol

Thank you!

EDIT: Oh, I guess as a side-effect my noses got more pronounced now, but I don't dislike it. And I guess I could sketch them but later erase if I want moe faces.
EDIT 2: Did a couple more. And wow. Just. WOW. You have no idea how much time that little tip saved me.

Thank you for breaking down all these different simplifications and styles! It's really helping me a lot with drawing different kinds of faces from imagination. I also really like the little tidbits of humor you interject every now and then. Overall, this video inspired me to try some different things with faces.

do you have a video on turnarounds? if not, can you make one? I'm struggling with keeping the proportions consistent as well as the shape of the face when not using the turnaround guide lines

There's a lot of deformations and exaggerated proportions for anime/manga and cartoons/caricature. You definitely need to understand the human head and your deformations into anime/manga style will be better. In fact, buy a plastic skull model and keep it by your desk.

One example of play with proportions which isn't anatomically correct, but correct for deformed anime/manga style is the placement of the mouth in an angled view. The mouth should not be centered over the center line of the face or it will look strange like the lips are pursed. The mouth especially for a female face should be off center. You will understand what I mean by looking at anime/manga examples. Do every mangaka follow this? No, but the majority do.

I cannot draw anything before the eyes (unless it's chibi, then I draw the head first) or else it's gonna look like bs so I always draw the eyes first but do whatever works 4 yall

Lowkey I’ve always done the first tip, I always go head and face -> mouth -> nose -> eyes.

Edit: 15:56 HYPNOSIS MIC MENTIONED ‼️‼️‼️
