Been a pocket hole jig user for more than 10 years and have never EVER had an issue.
If you're too lazy to clamp your material before you screw it together then you probably don't do much work in your shop anyway.

Never had a problem using my Kreg jig, my work lines up every time.

Usually you wanna screw into the the material, not towards the edge where there’s little to no strength if it happens to bend or flex

Operator error seems to be your issue. Read all instructions and then follow the steps required to accomplish your hole pattern. Clamping and alignment are in there somewhere, wouldn’t you think?

I just use the 2 hole kreg. If you have man hands you don't get drift or need clamps.

Interesting i have never had any problem with the afore mentioned jig.

Maybe take a little time screwing it together. Maybe use a clamp. You're putting it together trying to make it look bad

The Castle benchtop much like the one he is using is $1800. And the low angle pocket hole it makes is superior in some ways. Note that the pilot hole is a larger diameter than the treads of the screw making a slightly loose fit and that also helps with alignment. But people with this machine still clamp. It’s too risky not to. And on plywood the higher angle of the Kreg is stronger because it crosses more ply’s.

You make the problem of using clamps to properly screw together wood sound like it’s an impossible task that woodworkers try to avoid. Just clamp down your work. It’s not hard. It will be fine.

Screws should be running from outside in. What you are showing is a much weaker joint. And glue will substantially increase strength.

Carpenter of 36 yrs. I love my Kreg jig. You seem like all those other guys in a huge hurry. Trying to skip the clamps. Clamps are a carpenter's best friend. After a nicely sharpened pencil, of course

Clamping takes time and cuts into profits, but there are other alternatives

Besides the countless replies with easy fixes, make sure you use the right screw.

Saw Norm Abraham use such a machine on an episode or two

Castle machines with 2 motors are cool but I couldn’t justify the cost. I bought the version that requires me to drill the pilot hole

They make different head screws for the ones that use a router. The pocket isn’t flat like it would be with the drill bit it’s slightly rounded inside. Castle who now owns the patent to the machine your using manufacturers the correct screws to use.

Sweet! I'll just pick one up at the store and stash it in my truck for when I'm doing pocket holes on-site!

Castle makes an excellent pocket driller
