Excellent question, thank you! To me it seems like the Russian soul has to do with nostalgia and acceptance of long-term suffering, groups of drunken friends, mind numbing ignorance and an unfounded yet firm belief in one's own mystical greatness over others.

Russian soul is an irrational idea. This is not that pragmatic European desire to extract the maximum benefit for oneself personally, this is the idea of the Russian spirit, which subjugates and dissolves your, my individuality, but in return gives both you and me a hundred times more; gives a sense of belonging to a great organism, gives a sense of the spirit, gives a sense of strength and immortality. The West has always sought to compromise the idea of our statehood, but the greatest danger to our idea lies not in the West, but in ourselves; it is we ourselves who seize all these endless fashionable Western ideas, tempted by their obvious practicality, rationality, without realizing that this is precisely where their destructive power lies for us. But never mind, our own idea always wins in the end.

Those ladies were alive while russia enslaved half of Europe behind the Iron Curtain for 40 years, and also watched when the world tore it down with equal parts glee and hatred of russia. But russia didn't harm anyone?

The problem could stem from the fact that russias total wealth and governmemt budget amounts to something between Austria and The Netherlands 😮. There can't be abipolar world between Washington and Vienna.😅

I feel if you have never spent time in Russia you have no right to answer this. I have. I can’t thank the Russian ppl enough for the hospitality that was shown to me. Let’s be honest, I love the US (my country) but the US doesnt have the best “soul” these days with all the materialism and the cancel culture. Don’t even get me started with the war on religion, and how the US is handling its crime. Bail reform is working great right? Both counties have their problems but Russia is far from this evil place the western media portrays it to be.

I was wondering why the kindest and deepest russian soul allows their bodies and minds to kill, torture, occupy, steal and destroy. Is there some disonnect?

To me the Russian/ruzzian soul is best defined as someone being a Masochist (in a non-sexual) way. Theyre modern day flagellates, since many seem to accept if not relish in the idea of as the person at 2:25 said theyre long-suffering, because its a long-suffering existence not because it has to be, but because most are apathetic & accepting of it due to laziness & having a lack of belief in both themselves & others as being able to change
