The year is 2033 and car modification has just been banned worldwide. Public transportation has become the new normal in order to "keep you safe". All modified cars seen driving the streets will be immediately impounded and crushed, and the drivers thrown in prison... However, this doesn't stop one brave individual from rebelling.

Short film created and animated in Unreal Engine 4. Car model assembled in Maya. Inspired by Bladerunner, Drive, and recent events.

The man, the myth, the legend. When the world needed him most, project 33 returned.

The "Social Credit" Billboard is a quite a nice touch

I was honestly expecting neons and ricer aero kits, but the fact that you chose the Bosozoku style, for its flashy, loud and rebellious nature, is just absolute gold. I love this.

With just a few sentences and a 3 minute clip you told a better story than most modern movies

It was almost like he'd been in the game since the 2010s, running around in that 70s Skyline; the audacity he had to live by his own rules and not those of the Chinese World Order. He lived for the speed, the exhilarating dream of the car guy in 2033, the dream everyone insisted was long dead. He was out for his own freedom, and soon, for that of the world. He was no shill for big oil, nor was he out to hurt anyone, but the media wouldn't allow anyone to come to that realization.

He knew there were more like him, more who shared the passion of speeding inline sixes. He remembered when the V12s disappeared, then the V8s and then, when no one thought the establishment could stoop any lower, the 6 cylinders were finally killed off. Again, he was no big oil shill, he just lived for a passion you could never expect these billionaires and politicians to understand. Arguably if big oil had their way, that city he lived in would be unsustainable for life. Hell, for different reasons you could argue it still ended up that way. You have people who secretly wanted to chop the Dear Leader's nuts off but didn't have the balls themselves to say it. They smiled in the cameras and praised the Dear Leader while dressing in such a way that kept their Project 33 tattoos hidden. They wanted change too; they feared for their lives.

I was there, you know. The day he left the city. I saw that Skyline roll out and I knew he meant business. You just didn't roll out there with your exhausts the height of the car or your spoiler the size of a small person and not expect attention from the thought police. Especially not if it was over 50 years old. I heard the boos and jeers from the balconies around me as that car rolled out. I paid no mind. And I knew he didn't either. He was on a mission that day, to save us all from the tyranny of the CCP. Because this was about more than just cars. And he knew that too.

Ever since the pandemic back in 2020 it's only gotten worse. Then the war between us and China. God, how the fuck did we get here? From wearing masks to combat a deadly disease to fighting a fucking new world order. It still drives me insane to this day. When the CCP took over the United States they pretty much owned the world. No one ever tried undo their tyranny; no one in the government at least. And we know now that when you can't trust your government to solve these problems the only way to fix the system is to destroy it first. And he was the exact kind of guy we needed to get that process going, one of the main reasons being that everyone hated him. The least pejorative thing I'd ever heard anyone say about him up until that day was that he was a 40 year old man still trying to be a rebellious teen. Unsurprisingly I never had any respect for that kind of talk. People are done when they say they're done.

He pulled out onto the street and flashed his lights at me, in my old '96 Impala. That was the moment I knew the revolution was soon to be televised. Looking back I'm pretty sure he wanted it that way.

Man, this would actually make a nice story concept/theme for the next need for speed game

I loved the lines on the boards like that twist of, "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy." kind of things, you really know your stuff well! I wouldn't be mad if you're called over for the next NFS.

I'm not a super fan of the Bōsōzoku style in normal terms, but I think in the sense of being as rebellious as possible, Bōsōzoku is the shit. Sick car.

I feel like this will be the rebellion of cars. For me, only true car nerds will only have the guts to go up against the government and the world. But anyways, u did a hell of a good job project 33. This man needs a medal for this…
