(un)helpful guide to visual kei

OK GUYS, READ THIS:
this is a small edit, some obs i forgot to add to de video, but it's very important: vkei usually deals with some topics that can be really triggering for some people such as sæxual themes, süic1de, abus3 and other sensitive themes, so if that bothers you, i dont really recommend you stay in the scene since it could be really distressing, also, it's not a very safe place for minors since there are discussions of nsfw stuff. but if you have an open mind for punk/provocative artistic expressions, then i swear you'll have lots of fun

90's Visual Kei is for me the best Visual Kei.

I’ve recently just started getting into vkei and i am a huge Vocaloid fan. So when you showed X Japan I instantly recognized Hideto because there is a unreleased Vocaloid of him called “hide”

Wow you did great with this video, I love how in-depth you went with the explanations. I first found visual kei when I was around 15 - 16, so around 5 years ago, and it’s always made me sad how no one else seems to know about it’s existence lol. Like western 2000s bands there was definitely a rise and fall of popularity and I could never quite understand why rock and sub-genres of rock go through this when other genres don’t, when there’s so much amazing music out there. It’s actually a big dream of mine to study music extensively (the finances, marketing, engineering, instrumentation, everything), and start a proper management company for v-kei bands since I know a lot of them really suffer financially and even with getting their name out there in the first place. Sorry for the wall of text lol, I just find extreme interest in the topic and really appreciate you making a video on it knowing how niche it is nowadays.

Honestly, for someone getting into visual kei, this was a very helpful guide. From the history of the genre and intruduction of it's subgenres illustrated with actual examples, to the use of live footage for the vocals. Thank you for this video!

As someone who liked visual kei in middle school but only got into Sid and the gazette I greatly appreciate this. I recently got back into it as I started college and really only listened to Malice Mizer this will help broaden the artists I listen to and support <3

i’m so glad ero-guro is mentioned in this😭 one of my all time fav bands actually did a protest for “ero-guro innocence” in the late 1980’s, so it’s really cool to see it mentioned somewhere else!! The band is Yapoos, which actually includes Jun Togawa as the vocalist, and they’re still together since 1983!! i could go on about them for hours

Still salty about Dimlim disbanding at the beginning of last year, was hoping they would release one more thing as it felt inevitable with how quickly members left and joined. Bought most of their stuff though besides the venue-exclusive stuff. Not dropping 80-150 dollars on a cd with 5 or so songs. Not to mention the cost to proxy buy from Yahoo Auction being in the US.
