I highly recommend "Let Your Mind Run" by Deena Kastor and Michelle Hamilton! It offers excellent insights and an engaging narrative of one of the most talented female runners of our time--and emphasizes the role of the mind in being strong athlete.

Heather, thanks for another great video! I think the mental side of running, or any sport is tremendously important. I think if we’re honest all of us have doubts about our abilities even when things are going well. I don’t know if you remember this, but at the wine and dine meet up I mentioned to you that I had read that runners miss their goal 80% of the time. Knowing that was very helpful for me.

Normally I wouldn’t even consider reading the book, but in this case I had to pause. I know about Kara Gaucher (spelling?). My cousin completed against her when she was at the peak of her running career. If you look up Kara’s times, it will blow your mind how fast she ran.

Thanks again for another great video!

I heard good things about "How Bad Do You Want It" as another book focused on the mental aspect of running. I haven't ready it, but it's on my list. Kelly Robert's is very positive and focuses on finding inner strength, although she can get repetitive (she's also matured a bit of late), so her podcast is a good listen when you need a pick-me-up. I really need to find time to read more, but even when I travel, I seem to be working.

This came at a very good time for me. I have been struggling lately and really wondering if I should still run. I am very excited to get this book and read it.
