I’m a private person, I don’t want my data collected in daily basis. Period.

I wish all researchers sought the data of consenting adults. Unfortunately, more work must be done to combat unauthorized surveillance and an invasion of privacy often justified by illegitimate legal loopholes/purposes targeting unsuspecting civilians.

I was having a conversation with a co worker and I seen her messing with her smart watch, and I said "You know you'll never have privacy with that thing on right?", and she said " oh so your one of those conspiracy nuts that think they keep track of me through my watch"
I just sent her a link to this and didn't say why

I am a physician - a "Custodian" of health related information of each patient under my watch and regulated by Alberta's HIA in exercising due diligence with respect to accessing and leveraging electronic health record platforms for data collection. Your wealth of personal health data volunteered on and collected by most wearable device companies is owned by them! It is can be wrapped with and/or combined with other personal data sets on you when shared with other third parties that have also accumulated data on you. That is an explicit right of passage to use most devices: they can use your information in explicitly non transparent ways (at their discretion with out obtaining explicit consents). In this is the concern we as healthcare providers have with such technologies. If they would guarantee that they do not share any of ones personal health data with third parties, that would be excellent. But, they don't! Who owns your data? It's a shared ownership that the individual, you, does not own, rather the ownership according to most Terms of use and Privacy Policies is explicit that the end-user, you do not really own anything but shared ownership over which it is an effort to manage your data. That is the issue healthcare providers have become aware of with respect to this health data grab by wearables. Yes, if it could and would only be used by researchers or healthcare provider teams like Dr Ferber promotes that it would great. There reality is it is not. This is the grounding of why wearables are such an issue in advising patients to use such devices. As a custodian of a patient's health information this is the challenge. More clarity here would be helpful.

Corporations do not "share" the consent, that my data is my data. I would love to share my data, but not without a proper government protecting my property (the data). Infact, they use my data, to leverage and influence my thoughts for political developments. I am from germany, we are taught here at school what datacollection can be abused for. Recent discoveries laid bare how big corporations are already misusing such data through the NSO Group and their Pegasus software, to go against activists and freedom fighters in general. If you are blind in this direction, things wont move an inch, and i wont either. Same for smart homes. If there was a solution without a secret backdoor for amazon, google, apple, facebook or microsoft harvesting my data, id be the first to use it, but there is none. And there is none for a reason. To me, this sppech looks and sounds like delusional whitewashing of the surveillance apparatus and all the maladies that come along with it.

I'm confused. Is this a Ted Talk or a sales pitch?

. "Don't count the days, make the days count" - Muhammad Ali
This quote discusses the importance of making every day meaningful and worthwhile. The number of days we have left on this earth is unchangeable, so it's important not to worry about how many of them are left. Instead, we should focus on living each day to its fullest and doing everything we can to make it count for something.
This quote reminds us that every day counts because the time we have here, no matter how long it is, should be used to do something positive. So don't waste your time worrying about when you'll die because you could die tomorrow and then none of the days in between would have mattered at all.

Don't try to live someone else's life when you already have one . One you can call your own . One you can grow and improve . One you can make and form as you want . Just put in the - effort, be creative, and use your imagination .

Sharing my data could be ok except big companies and countries etc have already illegally used or shared my data without permission or used it in some devious facebook way. Any trust and respect earned has been tossed aside for the sake of a dollar. Sharing your optimism would be asking a lot. So unfortunate. If honesty and not misleading/withholding were straight and proper in the first place there may not be the backlash.
SHAME!

I got a better idea, why don't information created in social location go to Government and public, private research and...

Private location data creation stay only for the individual ownership.. if you won't it you pay for loaning it to you.

Isn't that the smartest idea!
