How To Sound Design Dystopian Pads (using Vital)

Показать описание
In this sound design tutorial I create a cinematic dystopian pad. These elements are very useful to create tension and add atmosphere an character to music and trailers but can also be musically played.

I also create a short loop with other sound design elements such as booms, risers and braams.

I'm using the free synth vital but this can be replicated in other synths as well.

Let me know what kind of content you would like to see (more of) on this channel! :)

Are you interested in recording your own sounds and/ or working with raw audio files (creating sound effects by processing source sounds)?
Recording equipment?
Organising/ preparing sound effects for layering?
Writing trailer music?
...

I love all the stuff in vital. I am currently making music for games in the horror genre and would love to see more sound design tutorials in that realm. Or just in the video game realm in general.

absolutely amazing work. You are the most straight to the point heres how to make sounds dude i found so far. And you are using a free synth so bonus points for that. I will be returning to your videos a lot. I think i can learn so much from you as somebody just starting out with sound design. Thank you so much for putting the time in to make educational videos about your craft and I really hope to see more from you in the future.

Here are some topics that interest me personally
1. creating an atmosphere for different moods: what sounds do you use to sound angry, sad, anxious, happy etc. I am specifically talking about textures and not melody/harmony
2. How to go about imitating sounds by ear. where to start.
3. more about percussive elements. What makes a kick resonant? what makes a base thick? Using alternate sounds as percussion elements.
4. I would also appreciate inputs on sampling and how to shape excisting sound to fit your purpose.

My primary interests are as hobbyist. I want to understand how to use synthesis tools to create emotion and in general the workflow of shaping sound to fit what you want.
Currently I am just trying to wrap my head around the vast topic of synthesis and and how to use a synth plugin as a creative instrument instead of just using and tweaking presets.

maybe this helps to give you some ideas for future videos although i might not be your target audience. anyways thank you again for the hard work you have already put in. It is fascinating to watch your process of shaping a sound.

So far I've enjoyed every single video you've made. Since you did ask tho - you mentioned recording your own sounds - would be really fun if you'd make videos with creative ideas on field recordings. "Longer" sounds, rather than short ones.

Is there a tutorial for how to make the kick at 5:55?

Holding shift when scrolling on the transpose number will let you jump whole octaves, that way you don't have to manually scroll up 12 semitones or more each time!

Do you work as a sound designer of some sort beside making youtube videos? Would it be a good career? I am honestly amazed (not amazing bruh) by all your work and thankful for the great inspiration. You know, just curious.
