This experiment to measure the speed of sound is fourteen-year-old Manu’s entry into the Wolsey Hall Oxford Homeschooling Community Science Experiment competition.

Manu is homeschooling with Wolsey Hall Oxford in India and entered his video into the ‘Best presenter’ category.

Manu gives a clear account of the formulae required to calculate the speed of sound based on the results of the experiment conducted. We liked the fact that Manu extended his experiment to increase the accuracy by competing the experiment at different distances and multiple times.

We thought Manu’s experiment to measure the speed of sound would be easy for other homeschooling students to replicate.
