I bought the ortofon om series, upgrading to 20, 30 and eventually 40. I received the Concorde MK1 Pro S at a discount. Was I blown away. I'm hoping the Concorde Elite will be even better.

Glad to see you enjoying for the Concorde cart. I've been using the Concorde Club cart and elliptical stylus from the DJ line for a couple of years and I love it!
The Club cart goes around $300 and the stylus are around $80CDN through Long & McQuade. A bit more affordable and sounds and tracks great on my AT120!

Using a Thakker Concorde R10 fitted with Stylus 30 for about 9 months on my 1210GR and happy with it. I do feel the Elite is over priced though considering the price I paid for the R10.

Agree on stylus cleaning Ortofon advice. As for records I use a VPI 16.5 to clean my records, but I always do an extra rinse final step with MoFi pure water - spray on, spread out and re-vacuum. I would never use a wet cleaning fluid on a record and just dry off or air dry. It does leave solution in the grooves.

At 2:57 ...The cartridge has nothing to do with specific alignment method. I would say the Concorde is suitable for an arm which aligns a stylus to any reasonable nullpoints given the 52mm distance from tonearm locking collar to stylus. Technics alignment is very close to Stevenson method but not exactly.

Got mine second hand. Barely used for about 2/3s of the European retail price. The best cart that I've heard except the Ortofon M2 black. But it's very very close I think. Bought also almost simultaneously an audio Technica vm95sh. Best buys for my HiFi setup.

I remember DAT 4 ? On my Marantz Receiver Turntable Combo sounding great from Christmas 1980 replacements were 9.99

Many years ago I bought two Concorde styli for DJ purposes. They were the first generations and I still have them. Both carts still have two brand new replacement styli as well. They look great on a Technics turntable and a very easy to install. For hifi purposes I would buy the Audio Technica VM450ML instead. Certainly for the asking price of the Concorde Elite; the AT is a far better cart and has a better stylus profile.

I like how different that looks. I only have used the om5e because my pro ject came with that cartridge.

I am an enthusiast but my AT95e and edifier speakers sound great - can’t imagine the sound upgrade is so significant with this cart that the cost is justified.

I love your choice in testing records. Great review!

My dad still has an original Concorde on his jvc table from the early 80s

Audio Technica AT-VM95ML is a good reference cartridge - It has bit different kind of soundstage as Blue or 110, but it would compliment the references cartridge "series" quite well as many people have it (or know it from other tests) and could even more easily relate to sound comparison comments :)

You've intrigued me here. I also run an MP110 and love it, but hearing that the Elite opens up the soundstage more is impressive. Unfortunately at AU$699 in Australia and seemingly out of stock everywhere, I probably won't get the chance

Hiya Frank!
There IS something about those Orto(phones)! I contacted Ortofon about what their Concorde's STD designation meant...some Vinyl Engineers had an interesting concept, but Orty assured me that it was an abbreviation for "Standard".
I own 2 Concorde STDs, 2 Concorde 20s (low mass, requiring a weight to a standard tonearm), a Concorde EC-10, the 2M Blue and Bronze, OM-10, 0M-5E, all of which either coming with a turntable or at an "I can't say no" price...
They're all wonderful carts, but those Concordes asthetics are to die for...
Got snow?
Oh, by the way, there's an interesting comparison of the 2M family, Blue, Bronze, and Black on YT to the Dire Straits tune When It Comes To You...listen to the gradual noise picked up by the higher ranking carts...off topic, but related to Ortofon.
Oh, BTB, I saw my comment and all it's er-rors...had to correct 'em...!

Great choice for record samples 😀. I just bought a Technics 50th anniversary edition 1200 and have been looking at upgrading from the Ortofon pro to the Blue. Great video.

I’m still looking for a good Ortofon cartridge that can play MONO and stereo perfectly.

You need to try an Audio Technica AT-VM95ML.
