Thanks for the honesty. For my shop work, I'm changing over to corded tools. I'm tired of all the BS with the batteries plus replacement cost is crazy.

Ive switch to ridgid's brushless/octane line 3 years ago after my Milwaukee drill and impact lived their life. Dont regret and recommend ridgid whenever I can. I almost have everything their new line offers and use them all the time as a commercial electrician. Ive also had the chance to put the LSA to the test twice. My light canon leds burnt out and the leds for my impact stopped working. It was replaced with a brand new light canon delivered to my house and the leds to the impact where fixed. Apparently leds have issues within the 10 000 hour period. Ridgid is great and their line keeps expanding.

Ridgid has been a great brand of tools I've mostly bought for the last 5 years or so. I have nearly all their mainline tools since the GEN4 line thru the GEN5 and now Brushless and Octane lines.. No issues.

I just bought a brand new ridgid kit . And when you use both the drill or impact and let go of trigger it sparks in motor . Is that normal ?
There no smell .

I'm torn because while I've always had access to my dads or buddies tools. Who have always sworn by DeWalt I decided I would buy my first set of Brushless tools of my own. I ordered the Rigid Octane Circ Saw, Octane Impact Driver and a 2 and 4ah charger kit from Home Depot and I'm expecting it tomorrow and I'm nerved I should've stuck with DeWalt..

MY experience with Ridgids warranty is poor. I would not recommend buying this brand based on the warranty. The terms and conditions required to register and validate the warranty are purposely difficult. Then getting someone from Ridgid to actually get the tool repaired/replaced under warranty is a nightmare. I have had the housing replaced on my impact driver (cheap plastic) and have been trying to get my batteries replaced under warranty for 2 weeks. Nobody answers the phone and nobody has called me back.

With that said, the tools are a decent value. They function well for the money, but there are some small performance and functional differences from the higher end tools. I would say Ridgid is a good DIY tool but if you’re on the fence between Ridgid and another brand, DO NOT use Ridgids warranty as a deciding factor. It is essentially a deceptive warranty.

just remember it's a 3 year warranty but the LSA is Not a warranty but a service agreement. Now I am starting to switch out my tools over to Ridgid again for the LSA. Wish they had the LSA back when I got my old table saw and miter saw

@the excellent laborer

Can you do a quick review of the this Ridgid set of tools and batteries?? Young dad here looking to make a lasting good purchase of tools for DYI stuff around the home.
I love the value you get with Ridgid warranty and tech features. Also want a tool to do what it is made for and simple work well enough and long enough

Thank you sir!!

Started w/Ridgid years ago and switched to DeWalt 20V. DeWalt is built a lot better, lighter, longer lasting batteries, better agronomics, and “generally” more powerful. As far as the Ridgid warranty... meh! They replaced a defected charger, but gave me the run-around on a properly registered faulty drill. Like everything else, you get what you pay for...

Wondering what the turn around time for warranty claims?
Also...gotta wonder what THEY charge to ship the warranted tool or battery back to the customer?
And, is the tool you get beck a referb or new?

I did the same as you, I have a lot of older DeWalt power tools that are on their way out and I replaced them with Ridgid, I have a ton of DeWalt stuff from the table saw, tool chest, hand tools, mechanics tools, etc. As of late it's been Ridgid, Ryobi, Milwaukee and Husky tools for me.

LSA is NOT a warranty. Read the small print Rigid says it is not a warranty and there are a lot of conditions not covered as well as requiring credit card up front on submission

My drill driver broke after a couple uses, felling gutted as I bought it used but new in the box and have no LTSA. During the last several months Iv bought many Ridgid tools and I’m kind of regretting it even though I bought them from HD. Really not sure how I feel about Ridgid anymore if a new drill doesn’t even last 6 months with minimal use. Though Ridgid we’re as tough as the more popular brands.

I at first loved Ridgid tools when they came out at Home Depot but would never buy another tool of theirs. Two trim routers NG one ran once when I bought it and never started again. Chopsaw does not cut straight very sloppy tolerances. Original six inch orbital sander was amazing and was made by Metabo then they went to China and the quality dropped thru the floor. Needed to replace pad but Ridgid said they were no longer made and I was out of luck. Finally found someone who told me they were originally made by Metabo and was able to find part with no help from Ridgid. Circular saw a piece of junk blade shaft wobbles only good for rough cutting. Sawsall works ok and contractors saw worked well after extensive tune up. You get what you pay for. Will say all my Ridgid tools are over ten years old and well used over time on the 1850 house I live in.

The one thing I don't like about my Gen5 octane is the off/on rotational transition is sort of abrupt. Its not turning, then suddenly it is at a speed faster than I might like for very delicate work. My older drill had a much more gradual transition from off to on and I could easily slowly turn the chuck, make it barely move. This new one just BANG starts moving at a working speed. Oh well. Not a big deal but I dont like that. Applied for that LSA two weeks ago and its still being approved. Two weeks? Oh well. Not a big deal but I dont like that either.
We shall see.

Good review. I have pretty much told myself that all tools besides the Dewalt are junk. A few weeks ago a buddy of mine has some rigid tools. I was impressed. Especially because I have bought replacement batteries for my three-year-old Dewalt tools.
