One of my favorite things about Kelly is he does these in one take. No going back to fix a note or two that doesn't sound exactly perfect (not that there are many). I read an interview with John Frusciante a few years ago in which he stated that type of recording is a bottom line for him--no re-takes. Practice, practice, practice, practice, record, release.
