Ahsoka has proven with its first 3 episodes that Star Wars is moving in a new but familiar George Lucas direction. Is this good?

I'm not saying I THINK the OT is just "serious and gritty". Emphasis on the **some** fans think so, however. Those who can't stand Ewoks or even C3PO. Which is fair too, we all have our own perception of Star Wars :)

The OT was not "gritty and serious" no matter how many fans who hate ewoks try to claim it was. But this show is doing a good job of undoing all the damage Rey and her contrived trilogy did to the brand.

I think this show is a nice mix of the prequels and originals. Just all around feels like Star Wars.

The Ahsoka series is basically clone wars but live action, it’s good a really similar vibe and that’s not because of Ahsoka being there

Gritty and serious like original trilogy?

The OT had a ton of light heartedness to it. Certainly in lighter tone than the newer stuff.

As a prequel fan, this is the kind of Star Wars content I have been yearning for. In Dave Filoni we trust! He is truly the chosen one.

...this is the first time I've ever heard the original R2D2 trilogy called "gritty and serious."

To anyone complaining about the physics in this scene, I only point you to the scene from season 2 episode 2 of Clone Wars, Cargo of Doom, where Anakin, Ahsoka and the clones drop AT-TE's onto a Separatist ship. Aside from Anakin literally only wearing a helmet and nothing else to protect himself from space, just his normal Jedi robes and clone armor, Anakin and Ahsoka are performing fancy flips and suddenly stopping without touching anything, and when they go to enter through a hatch, they just jump into it. So don't complain about how they just don't care about space physics for some cheap action. Space physics have always been up in the air in Star Wars. So if anything, hate on Clone Wars first.

This isn't the same but I remember in Kotor games there are a few times where you would wear space suit and go out in space.

Honestly I think the best change in this series is that we finally got Kevin Kiner to compose score for a Disney live-action series. It finally feels Star Wars and it finally has the vibes it should. This guy always delivers and I really believe he should be in charge of music for all Star Wars from now on. He does great job at mimicking John Williams but in his own way. Of course Ludwig Göransson is also a legend and his music worked great for Mandalorian but it's not exactly Star Wars.

No, we have shit writers who are incapable of writing an original story. It's comical that there's a writers strike in Hollywood, it's like your worst employee threatening to walk out.
Seriously, look at the garbage being churned out of Hollywood these days, all they do is tick boxes to meet woke standards. Storylines and character arcs no longer matter!

People have trumped up this idea that the OT was / every Star Wars product needs to be some George R.R. Martin level sci-fi/fantasy masterpiece and that’s just not the case. There’s been stupid writing back to the 70s.

Life Long Fan since I was 7 in 1977. I love EVERYTHING!! In a New Hope when Ben was telling Luke about the Clone Wars. Ever since that scene, I always wanted to know more. I got my answer. If it says Star Wars. I'm Yours.

As a prequel fan, I do love the recent Star Wars stuff going back to the more fun aspects of Star Wars, mainly reminiscent of the OT. But at the same time, I would appreciate something like Revenge of the Sith. Not necessarily in terms of seriousness or grittiness (RotS and the rest of the prequels had some cringy and cheesy stuff as well) but rather in the tragic themes behind it. The fall of the jedi, a master vs his apprentice, the rise of the Empire, etc. I do miss that feeling, and I feel that recent Star Wars lacks this. Though, Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor do an amazing job in regards to this, in my opinion.

Ahsoka is actually almost in between the prequels and the sequels

I have to disagree about the sequels, tonally speaking. I think that Force Awakens did a great job at balancing the tone and feel of both the original trilogy and the prequels. Last Jedi was just grimdark for no reason. Then Rise of Skywalker was even more cartoonish than the prequels. A big part of the problem with the sequel trilogy was that there was no tonal consistency (or plot consistency) from one movie to the next.
